Overview

Workbee is a digital platform (Android, iOS, web) with a two-sided marketplace that offers temporary staffing solutions in an automated manner. Our goal is to to remove the middle man and match skilled professionals in the service industry with businesses having temporary staffing needs

Process

From discovery and ideation through concept design, planning, development, and measurement—aligned with product and team growth.

Conceptualization

Starting from scratch, we used a few different brainstorming and ideation techniques to map out what the business modal canvas and product would look like.

Initial low-fidelity mockups were created to convey the products core features

Proof of Concept

Tech stack

Iterating on the tech stack and system architecture to identify key areas of the platform and what services might be needed

Prototyping

Naming, logo, and mood board

Created a Name using Brainwriting with the team. Started out using Color theory and Mood boards to define how our app would look like and what message it should convey to our users

Insights & Results

Key learnings

Building a whole platform from start to finish and releasing it gave me a lot of insights into the different stages of development.\n\n- Do not reinvent the wheel and use resources that are open and available in the early stages of design and prototyping.\n- All stakeholders should know what is going on, communication is key.\n- Taking on too many things at once.\n- Lean is great for a developing smaller platforms.\n- Development requirements can change with user insights.\n- Requirements change based on budget.\n- Setting clear goals and planning is better than micromanagement.\n- The importance of QA at every stage of development

Impact

Managed a development team of 8 developers and designers while overseeing the implementation of Workbees’ system architecture and API along with budgeting and planning.\n\nLed the implementation of the tech platform and apps from an initial concept to live service with over 5000 downloads and 23 business across the Stockholm region
